Aero Arts uses a remote-controlled camera mounted on a helium blimp to get unique aerial photos. This system is perfect for close-up photography for construction companies, commercial realtors, landscape architects, resorts, and building owners. The 20-foot long, helium-filled blimp can lift a camera to 200 feet above the ground for impressive photos. A color micro-video camera mounted on the still camera shows the operator the field of view on the control unit video monitor. Servo motors control camera pan and tilt from the ground.
Since there is no limit to how low the blimp can operate, full-frame aerial close-ups of properties are easy to obtain without the use of telephoto lenses. The blimp can operate in areas impossible to get to with a helicopter. In fact, many photos of taller buildings are done below rooftop level. The blimp is much more economical to operate than a helicopter, can hover indefinitely and is silent. Clients often attend the photo session and request specific angles while shooting is in progress. With a photo aircraft, the client may not be able to (or want to) go on the photo flight. Aero Arts uses Nikon 35mm and Pentax 645, medium-format, cameras. Digital images are available from high-resolution scans of selected negatives onto Photo CD. For larger areas, Aero Arts can provide conventional aerial photography from aircraft.
